Land of the Rising Sun Collectibles

As collectors of far eastern collectibles, it would be a shame if we did not offer lovely traditional arts from the Land of the Rising Sun. Japan offers many beautiful vintage collectibles items that cannot be left behind. The Japanese obis is a beautiful sash that is generally worn with the kimono (a traditional Japanese dress).

In the west, these Japanese traditional items have been creatively used as bed runners, table runners, place mats, hand bags, hangings, and other accessories.

Over the years production of Japanese obis gradually declined, as Japan continues to advance both economically and technologically. Japanese females nowadays generally use western outfits that are more practical and comfortable.

This traditional garment is no longer a part of the modern Japanese women’s everyday life. Since elegant obis are rather scarce, many of the rare and expensive obis have been collected by collectors all over the world.

The vintage maru obis is generally more expensive. These vintage garments can cost more because they are usually completely made from silk and have a more luster feel to them.

On the other hand, newly produced obis are often less expensive and are still beautifully designed. However, they do not have the same elegance as the vintage obis, partly because of the use of synthetic materials with silk.

The Japanese obis is a luxurious, elegant, and tasteful traditional sash that many collectors buy and collect. These rare sashes are conspicuous accessories that can be traditionally worn with the kimono or used as other accessories.
